Vanessa M. Wall
I am an artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania currently studying jewelry design with a minor in furniture design at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). I was recently featured in the 2017 "Best of 3-D" exhibition at SCAD and my final architectural drafting presentation was displayed in Eichberg hall Spring-Fall 2017. Why Wallnut?
When I started my brand in 2016 I wanted to set myself apart not by being flashy and out there, but just by being myself. My mom has always told me, "Ya know... you're a nut!" and she'd chuckle because I always have been a bit different. I'd answer by saying, "Well yeah mom... a Wallnut!" using my last name to create this term. During my first couple years in college even my professors called me Wallnut. When I decided on a logo and brand it was only logical to go with my most popular nickname. I started my formal artistic education with the mindset of being a furniture designer. I love designing furniture as a hobby, but realized I didn't want to pursue it as a career. Now I have moved on to jewelry design, but I'm still the same Wallnut!
